Carnegie Library

This is a true small town library, complete with its own official Town Librarian. The Library came to be when, in 1912, the San Anselmo Women's Improvement Club decided that the town needed a library. Today, the library seeks to " provide equal opportunity access to information, high-quality book and media materials, programs, exhibits and online resources to meet the needs of our diverse community for lifelong learning, cultural enrichment and intellectual stimulation." Much has stayed the same since the original days of the library, but they have also moved into the present day with a website that is very accommodating. Online you can apply for or replace a library card, check any fines for overdue books, learn about upcoming events, search for a reading list, reserve a book, check out the bestseller list, read book reviews, find out if there are any interesting upcoming events, and search the Library Catalog. One of the most popular events is the Friends Book sale, when book lovers can pick up gently used books for a bargain price. The library is open Monday from noon until 8 pm, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 am until 6 pm, Thursday from noon until 6 pm, and Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm. The library is closed Fridays and Sundays.
