City Beach


The city of Long Beach, California can be found on United States Pacific Coast in Los Angeles County. It is south of Los Angeles' downtown by approximately twenty miles and borders on the city. The southeast edge is bordering Orange County. California's fifth largest city is the nation's thirty-eighth largest.

Signal Hill is completely surrounded by Long Beach. One of the largest shipping ports in the world is the city of Long Beach's port. There is also oil off the shoreline and underground giving the area more than a decent sized oil industry. The manufactures in the area include audiovisual and electronic equipment, home furnishings, automotive parts and aircraft.

Corporations such as Molina Healthcare, Epson America and SCAN Health Plan all have their headquarters in Long Beach. The areas has grown along with the aerospace industries and high technology found in the area. It has been ranked as the eighth most walkable city in America.

The current area known as long beach was inhabited by the indigenous people that made there home on the coast of southern California for around ten thousand years. The Tongva were the dominant group at the time of the Spanish explorers arrival during the sixteenth century.
