Desert Memorial Park


Desert Memorial Park is a cemetery that serves the residents of Cathedral City, Palm Springs and other surrounding communities. Currently, there are about 2,000 people buried within the memorial park.

Many tourists visit the Memorial Park to view the graves of the numerous celebrities including: Sonny Bono, Frank Sinatra, William Powell, and Jimmy Van Heusen. A map showing the location of a few celebrities' graves is available at the office.

Located in the Palm Springs District Cemetery at the corner of Da Vall Drive and East Ramon Road, Cathedral City, CA, the Desert Memorial Park is just seven miles south of Palm Springs, CA. Gates are open daily and office hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed on weekends and holidays.

The nearby Forest Lawn Cemetery, renamed from Palm Springs Mortuary & Mausoleum in 2005, also resides in the Palm Springs District Cemetery, and provides a final resting place for many celebrities as well including: George Montgomery, Jane Wyman, Dinah Shore, Donald Woods and others.

One other celebrity related attraction in Palms Springs is a bus tour viewing past and present homes of about 30-40 celebrities. Some tours include viewing of the Frank Sinatra estate as well.

Palm Springs is about 107 miles east of Los Angeles and 140 miles northeast of San Diego.
