The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians has lived in the area for several generations. The Indian Tribe adheres to many of the old ways, though they did suffer in the 50s regarding their tribal rights. Today they have over 240 members and managed to secure 2000 acres for their casino in 2000.
