Splash Zone

Splash Zone is a special family-focused area within the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It features more than 45 interactive exhibits in both English and Spanish, encouraging fun, discovery, and sharing for parents and children alike.

For infants and toddlers, also known as "Coral Babies" here, the Splash Zone's Coral Reef Kingdom exhibit provides a safe place for babies to crawl on their knees, lie on their backs, explore, and touch colorful objects at eye level. There is a waterbed play area and a block area, too.

The Splash Zone's 40-foot-long touch pool is in the Enchanted Kelp Forest, where sea stars, sea urchins, abalones, kelp crabs and other plants and animals can be handled by visitors of all ages. For older children and families, the Kelp Forest canopy walkthrough allows viewing of kelp arches, jeweled top snails, kelp crabs, and camouflaged fishes from a sunlit underwater passage. Also featured in the Splash Zone are interactive games, a water play area, and the Rugged Rocky Shore, home to a number of African black-footed penguins.

Splash Zone is located inside Monterey Bay Aquarium at 886 Cannery Row, Monterey, California 93940. Operating hours are from 10am to 5pm daily. The price of General Admission is $29.95 for adults and $19.95 for children aged 3 through 12. Student and senior discounts are available, and children under 3 are admitted free of charge.
