Agua Caliente Cultural Museum

The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum offers exhibitions, collections, research, and educational programs related to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and other Native American cultures. Collected here are more than 50,000 artifacts, many of which are on display and others that can be accessed by researchers and students by appointment.

The museum's southern California basket collection alone contains over 400 items. There are also Cahuilla ceramics, such as ollas, cooking pots, pipes, and pendants. Featured too are shell beads, bone tools, and various stone utensils, along with historic period artifacts retrieved from early habitation sites, ranging from cans and bottles to china and buttons. Most recently, the Board of Directors has proposed expansion into a new 110,000-square-foor facility and launched a $65 million capital campaign to fund its construction.

The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs at the Village Green Heritage Center. The address is 219 South Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, California 92262-6310. General admission is free of charge. Operating hours are from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sundays; closed on Mondays and Tuesday year-round and also on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
