Diamond Valley Lake

Diamond Valley Lake, located at located at 2325 Searl Parkway, Hemet, CA, holds enough water to supply drinking water to Southern California for up to six months in times of drought, which is why officials keep a close eye on the lakes activities.

The lake, considered one of the best California fisheries, has several species of freshwater fish: largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, channel catfish and others.

In additional to fishing and light boating, Diamond Valley is constructing a considerable trail system around the surrounding area. Other amenities at the east dam include a swimming pool, soccer and ball fields; the Western Science Center, a marina and more.

The Southwestern Riverside County Multi-Species Reserve provides 13,500 acres of open space that provides habitat to at least 16 endangered or threatened wildlife and plant species. The Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve provides additional habitat for native wildlife.

Much of the area around the lake remains undeveloped. Original plans for large recreations areas have been put on hold due to lack of funding and support.

Visitor Center is next to the Western Center for Archaeology and Paleontology providing exhibits and information about Diamond Valley Lake. The center is open Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
