McNear's Mystic Theatre

McNear's Mystic Theatre is in the historic part of downtown Petaluma and is considered the area's premier music venue by many. The theatre was built in 1911 and was originally sed for Vaudeville acts. It underwent renovations in 1992 and is now able to accommodate 550 people for live music performances. The theatre is home to a restaurant and bar, McNear's Saloon and Dining House, creating a great night out for anyone who want to enjoy dinner, a show, and a cocktail. The McNeary Family were the first and only owners of the theatre until 1976. The McNear family was filled with businessmen, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, and Yankee traders, and were considered a dynasty in Petaluma. The family owned a variety of buildings and businesses in the area. In 1976, The Historical Restoration and Development Company took ownership of the theatre and were responsible for the renovations. When purchased, there was a motorcycle shop in the dining space and the theatre itself was being used for showing adult movies. Nowadays, the building is home to 55 small businesses, as well as the theatre and restaurant. It can be rented for a variety of private functions including wedding receptions, corporate presentations, graduation parties, and film screenings. There is 8,000-square feet of space and lighting and sound equipment are provided.
