Riverside Metropolitan Museum


The Riverside Metropolitan Museum offers community access to the archives, artifacts and historic sites that allow continued education and remembrance of the history of the area. In addition to the onsite collections, the museum is also responsible for the operation of the National Historic Landmark Harada House, the National Register Listed Museum and the Victorian House Museum Heritage House. There are more than 100,000 artifacts at the museum offering a glimpse into the anthropological and natural history of the area. The museum is also home to 2,000 feet worth of archives. The museum is open to the public with free admission and they frequently host special events and exhibits in addition to the permanent collection. It is a popular destination for field trips, school programs and special cultural events. The nature collection at the museum includes specimens of the Riverside area. Visitors will learn about animals, plants, people and the geology of the region. The historic collection includes tools and equipment, furnishings, architecture, art, dolls, costumes and textiles.
