Ruddy's General Store Museum

Ruddy's General Store Museum is located at South Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, California and is approximately five and a half miles from Palm Springs International Airport. This is a not for profit museum that takes visitors back to the 1930s and 40s and is free to enter for under 12s. It is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

The museum features an extensive collection of general store items dating back to the era of the depression in the United States. The collector of the items was Jim Ruddy who decided to display the unused items, collected by a liquidator of the depression era, in the museum. Visitors here will be able to see authentic general stores items such as original showcases, signs and products.

In total there are at least 6,000 unused items, most of which are filled with their original contents and displayed on shelves and counters. Even groceries, tobacco, hardware, clothing, medicines, beauty aids, soaps and lotions can be seen here. The small museum will only require a short stay but staff here is usually very happy to provide further information about the history of the place and its contents.
