Spreckels Park

Spreckels Park in Coronado, California is a highlight of the island off San Diego's coast. The park has eight acres of land encompassing a playground, picnic tables, gazebo, and restrooms. In summer there is a concert series, annual flower show, and an art in the park gathering. They also have events throughout the year, which are popular with local residents.

The park was created when the land was donated by JD Spreckels in 1927. The park was also named after this man to honor his donation. Since then community events have been held on the lawn and grounds. Any group wishing to use the grounds must have a party of 20 or more and make reservations. Street parking is possible at the park. Weekends and major events can limit the amount of spaces available.

As long as the park is not reserved visitors are able to go to the park and enjoy being outdoors. Children from local homes on the island tend to spend their days at the playground. With restaurants, picnic areas, and more on the island there is plenty to do, especially when going to the park. A blanket may be wise to have a true picnic experience.
