Remarks: EXACT DATE NOT REPTDJUST MO/YR, ASSUME APRIL 1 2006. DURING ACCELERATION WE NOTICED GULLS ON THE RWY EDGE. AT ABOUT V, GULLS TURNED BACK TOWARD CTR OF RWY AND HIT UPPER L WINDSHLD AND L ENG INLET, DENTING THE INLET AND GOING INTO THE ENG. 1 FAN BLADE WAS DAMAGED BEYOND LIMITS AND 3-5 OTHERS HAD TO BE BLENDED. JUST AFTER THE STRIKE L ENG GAUGE SHOWED NO ABNORMAL INDICATIONS. ONCE WE WERE IN THE AIR, WE HAD A SMELL OF THE BIRD AND REALIZED IT HAD GONE INTO THE ENG. WE CLIMBED TO 13000 FT AND PULLED POWER BACK. SINCE THERE WERE NOT ABNORMAL ENG PARAMETERS AND WE WERE 1500 LBS OVER LDG WEIGHT WE MOVED POWER BACK TO MAX CLB AND CONTD FLT. AT DESTINATION WE FOUND THE DAMAGE. A/C WAS A MEDIUM TRANSPORT, LOW WING, WITH 2 TURBOJET ENG.
