Bowers Museum of Cultural Art

The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art is a museum that celebrates " world cultures through their arts." It is a popular destination for school groups and individuals and has been sharing its collections with visitors since 1936. The museum was the creation of Charles and Ada Bowers and is considered one of California's finest museums. This is the largest museum in Orange County. After a nearly decade period of analysis, the museum reopened in 1992, featuring exhibits that made it more of a cultural center instead of a collection of the Bowers' pieces of art. There was new children's programming, making it a great destination for field trips and school groups. Frequent school tours are led by museum Docents and are offered for children in grades three through 12. There are separate tours of the Kidseum for children in preschool through grade two. Tours can be one or two-and-a-half hours and are held on weekday mornings. Cultural Art Classes are also offered to complement the tours. Tours are also available for adult visitors and are offered every afternoon, provided a Docent is available. Those wanting a more brief experience can opt for a Docent gallery talk. The museum features a gift shop and plays host to a variety of special events throughout the year.
