City Water Intake Facility

The City Water Intake Facility in Sacramento, California is in the shape of a ship. Situated on old Highway 24 which is now Jiboom Street the facility in on the waterfront in the Sacramento River, the concrete structure has glass architecture that is rather distinct. The facility offers a view of the river and the city itself.

There is a view of the skyline of downtown, I Street Bridges and the historic Tower. There is no diving, swimming or fishing allowed off of the observation deck. The distinctive landmark just opened off of Interstate five. The parking lot for the facility is to the right. The cost of the Intake Facility was thirty-two million dollars and it was completed during 2004.

Sacramento's Water Intake Facility has six three hundred horse power pumps and two one hundred and fifty horse power pumps. The facility can draw as many as one hundred and sixty million gallons of water out of the river on a daily basis. The fish are protected by special screens. The facility was created to be an attractive and interesting monument instead of simply a functional block of concrete. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the facility directly.
