Dry Meadow Creek

Dry Meadow Creek in Kernville, California is located at the top of the canyon in North Fork Kern. It is considered a class V for white water rafting due to the various portages and steep sections that it has. The creek is 1.2 miles that continues into 1.8 miles on the Kern for kayaking or river rafting. A dirt road was put in to make it easy for visitors to get to the start off point on the creek. There is a shuttle that works to get guests and their equipment up to the start point. It takes five miles one way or fifteen minutes. To raft on the creek it is best in spring and summer after the snow has melted.

In the upper section of Dry Meadow Creek are a lot of smaller rapids and tree branches to navigate around. After a mile down the creek boats may have to be picked up to get around some trees and other issues. There is a six foot drop on a left hand turn where there are also two more sizeable rapids for expert rafters to navigate on. The creek is not good for novice rafters.
