Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is for both visitors and Californians. The park operates from 8am to 9pm. There is a bar called Rattlesnake Bar for visitors to get a drink or meal while at the park. However, the bar is not open when the lake is below 425 feet. The recreation area is located at the foothills of the Sierra allowing for activities like hiking, running, camping, biking, horseback riding, water skiing, boating, and picnicking. Visitors can make reservations for the campgrounds early in the season.

It is also possible to visit an area attraction called the Folsom Powerhouse which operated from 1885 to 1952. It produced 11,000 volts of electricity for Sacramento. Those interested in biking will find 32 miles of trail running from Folsom Lake, Sacramento County parks to Old Sacramento.

The Oaks Nature Trail is three quarters of a mile. It has plenty of accommodations for disabled individuals, making it fun for all. The trail takes visitors through the oak woodland, round the lake show, and wildlife viewing is possible. Fox, deer, reptiles, and wild turkeys can be spotted on the trail. To get to the park visitors need to come 25 miles from Sacramento on Highway 50 or I80.
