Forest Service Visitor Center

Tahoe City Forest Service Visitor Center is an important stop for visitors who wish to see the state parks in the area like Emerald Bay State Park. The center will provide tourist information about Tahoe City, California, as well as the park. Visitors who want to fish should stop at the Forest Service Center to find out about the trout and salmon found in the bay and surrounding creeks. The visitor center can also work for the Tahoe National Forest tourists. Big Bend Visitors Center is a historical landmark to the west of Donner Summit by about ten miles. It is found on Interstate 80. Big Bend does close for the winter season since most visitors come in summer months.

Taylor Creek is another visitor center in the Tahoe City region. The visitor center offers a short walk along the Rainbow Trail where one can find the Stream Profile Chamber. Here it is possible to observe Taylor Creek's underwater environment. There is a panel of windows allowing visitors to get down and look at the salmon. The panels were created because of the Kokanee salmon run, which occurs each October. The salmon try to swim upstream to spawn.
