The Foxen Canyon Wine Trail is a trail that will lead visitors on a most prominent path to learning about a very important winemaker in Santa Maria, California. This trail will lead visitors to a diverse collection of wines with the south of the trail beginning with Rhone wines and leading up to syrah, Grenache, and viognier. In the north section of the trail are Burgundy wines, which are much cooler than the warmer grapes of the south. Also in this cooler climate are pinot noir and chardonnay grapes that are used at Foxen Vineyards to make their notable wines.
The trail offers a diversity of wines like sauvignon Blanc, negrette, sylvaner, cabernet franc, and sangiovese. The Foxen Canyon Wine Trail is part of an association that represents all the wines made in vineyards in the area. The scenery is quite splendid with the vineyards, trees, and California locale. It is possible to picnic along the trail with a bottle of wine bought at one of the nearby vineyards. Visitors can learn about the wine making process, as well as attend several events that are held by the trail association each year in Santa Maria.
