Ice Castle International Training Center

Carol Probst and her husband Walter used to skate for the Ice Follies. In 1988, they opened the Ice Castle International Training Center, a dedicated figure skating rink with a year-round training program that has attracted Olympic, World and International skaters. They come here to draw on the center's remarkable talent and enjoy the peaceful, high-altitude forest location in California's San Bernardino Mountains.

Among the champions who have used this facility are three-time World Pair Champions and 2010 Olympic Gold Medalists, Shen and Zhao. Michelle Kwan and her coach, Rafael Arutyunyan, trained here for more than ten years. Others who have made their home here include 2008 World Champions Jeffrey Buttle and Mao Asada.

Training at 5,400 feet helps build lung power and endurance. Having a 185-foot by 85-foot international size rink with no hockey boards around it is also an attraction. There are ballet-style mirrors mounted at one end, too, which help skaters improve their technique and choreography.

The Ice Castle International Training Center is located about 80 miles from Los Angeles at 401 Burnt Mill Road, Lake Arrowhead, California 92352. Apart from its function as a training facility, the rink is also used as a Skating School, with lessons for all ages and ability levels. Organizations and groups may book the rink for private functions, too.
