Kalyra Winery

Kalyra Winery combines an Australian-born winemaker, Australian and California grapes, with California's Santa Barbara wine country to create a portfolio of wines. In 1989 Mike Brown created the Kalyra label, meaning "a wild and pleasant place," in the Aboriginal language. Additionally, he created the M. Brown label which is made from grapes imported from Australia, where Mike Brown was born.

The winery is open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekends. The tasting room, known as Kalyra by the Sea is open from noon to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and from noon to 8:00 p.m. on weekends. Kalyra by the Sea is located just off Highway 1 and a couple of blocks from Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara.

The winery is located in Santa Ynez, which is 40 minutes northwest of Santa Barbara by car. Nearby the winery, visitors can also enjoy the Chumash Casino, Old Mission Santa Ines, Solvang Visitor's Bureau, and Clairmont Farms. Santa Barbara is located less than 100 miles northwest of LAX along the Pacific Coast. Visitors to the tasting room may also enjoy nearby El Presidio De Santa Barbara State Historic Park, Santa Barbara Historical Museum, Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
