Lovers Point Park

The Lovers Point Park and Beach is a popular spot for locals in the Monterey Peninsula. The beach is well-kept and clean and features a rock formation that is great for climbing to great views. There is also a snack bar in the area so you can grab lunch and enjoy a picnic in the park or on the beach. Each year at the end of July the park hosts the Feast of Lanterns celebration. Legend has it, the park was originally called "Lovers of Jesus Point," when the surrounding area of Pacific Grove was a Methodist retreat. The park faces east, making it one of the few locations on the West Coast where the sun rises over the water. The park is a popular destination for surfers, kayakers, scuba divers, volleyball players, and those who just want to relax and unwind by the beach.Visitors to the Lovers Point area will be pleased with the varied accommodations including A Swift Escape bed and breakfast, the Andril cottages, or the Anton Inn. Those looking for a place to dine can enjoy a meal at Fishwife at Agilomar Beach. Other attractions in the area include the Point Pinos Lighthouse, the Monarch Grover Butterfly Sanctuary, and the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History. Shops in the area include the American Tin Cannery and Trotter's Antiques.
