Mansion owned by Johnny Depp

The mansion owned by Johnny Depp in Los Angeles sits on a hillside west of Sweetzer Avenue. The home has 29 rooms and was purchased by Depp in 1995. Some reports have stated that the home was originally owned by Bella Lugosi and served as the home of the munchkin characters who had roles in The Wizard of Oz movie. Others believe the home only resembles that of Lugosi's and that Depp's house was originally owned by Hersee Moody Carson, a widowed woman who held holiday parties for orphans during the 1930s and 1940s. The house was nicknamed the Castle of the Fairy Lady during that time. Depp paid $2.3 million for the home when he bought it from Michael Mitchelson, a divorce attorney n L.A. who lost the home after being convicted of tax fraud. The home is gated and can be seen from Sunset Boulevard, even though it is surrounded by dense collections trees and bushes. The house has nearly 7,500-square feet. Depp left the house in 2004. The house is located near Sunset Boulevard, which is the location of The Viper Club, once partially owned by Depp. Other nearby Los Angeles attractions include the Rocky and Bullwinkle statue, the Virgin Megastore, Carney's, the House of Blues, and Tower Records.
