Mystic Maze is a natural wonder in Needles, California. Needles is located near the Mojave Desert and Mojave Valley. Mystic Maze is not a true maze, but rather a series of windrows created with geological features. The maze offers an interesting geometric pattern, which is why it is considered a maze. The Mystic Maze was used by Mojave Warriors who returned from battle using the site for purification before they made their way home.
Mystic Maze is found in the National Wildlife Refuge Systems Archeological Site. The site is roughly 10 miles to the south of Needles along I-40. Some individuals have thought that Mystic Maze was the site of an ancient agricultural project due to how the land looks. Experts studying the site have definitely ruled that out. Instead, they have felt it was more of a geological formation over time due to wind, rain, and other elements.
Visitors can drive to the Aha Makav Valley to find the maze. For those who wish to feel spiritual they can study the Mojave Indians and their beliefs regarding the sites. Access is via a dirt road called Park Moabi Road. It is near where Fort Mojave once was.
