The Opus One Winery is a winery found in Oakville, California in the heart of the Napa Valley located at 7900 St. Helena Highway. The winery appears to be that of something from a movie. Visitors are welcomed in the lobby with a massive encased spiral staircase and velvet roped off section that travels downstairs. To the right of the open room is a desk with a knowledgeable staff member fulfilling visitor passes to the "partner's room" or what is commonly referred to as the tasting room. To the left of the lobby is a room with couches and chairs to sit and enjoy a sample that is not free but rather a hefty $25 fee. Bottles range from $50 for the overture on up to much more expensive bottle of vintage wine.
Daily tours take place at the winery and are escorted starting at 10:30 am. The tour winds around the areas where the wine is made, grapes are crushed, and barrels are filled. The tour ends up in the partner's room for tasting and relaxation. Visitors may purchase bottles of wine to take home or wine souvenirs as gifts. The winery is popular around the holidays but hours of operation are limited.
