Steve Jobs' Garage

Steve Jobs is well known in the United States due to his achievements in the world of technology. Steve Jobs is the co-founder and CEO of Apple Computer. Born in 1955, Jobs studied at Stanford University and worked in his parent's garage inventing technology. Jobs was considered the least likely to provide the US with a prototype computer, but that is just what he did with his co-founder in his parent's garage.

They raised money by selling a car and a calculator. When they first started the business they had $1,300. With credit lines and the initial capital they were able to get the Apple Corporation going. Their first big sale was done out of the Jobs Garage to Byte Shop in Mountain View. They had assembled 50 computers in the garage.

Today visitors to Palo Alto can drive by Steve Job's Garage, though tours are not offered. The house and the garage are still on the premises where Jobs grew up. The site is one of posterity. For more information about the garage and the man behind Apple, there is also the Apple Museum in California, which can be visited nearby Palo Alto.
