Taylor Creek Visitor Center

Visiting Lake Tahoe is exciting because of the beauty of the landscape and attractions nearby. Lake Tahoe, California offers the Taylor Creek Visitor Center to welcome guests to the lake area and Tahoe City. At the visitors center one will find more than area information. In fact, the center organizes a number of exhibits and activities year round to keep visitors and residents entertained. At any time Taylor Creek can be bustling with activity based on special events, holiday events, and more.

From Taylor Creek Visitor Center and parking guests can walk to Rainbow Trail. This trail brings visitors to Stream Profile Chamber, which allows them to observe a section of Taylor Creek's underwater environment. There is a panel of windows that allow for this underwater view. October is one of the better times to visit Taylor Creek Visitor Center because it is Kokanee Salmon spawning season. The salmon come up the creek as far as possible in order to spawn. It is the one of the only times to see hundreds of salmon at once. Also at the visitor center is the entrance to Tellac Historic Site Trail, Lake of the Sky Trail, and Smokey's Trail.
