The Queen Mary

The Queen Mary is located in Long Beach and offers an opportunity to tour or stay overnight on a full-size yacht. Stepping onto the boat is like stepping back in time. It is one of the most well-known ocean liners in the world and people come from all around to enjoy a walk around the steamship. The ship is over 1,000 feet in length and weighs more than 81,000 tons. It was originally constructed by John Brown and Co. in Scotland. The keel was laid in December of 1930 and it sailed its maiden voyage on May 27, 1936. Much of the 1930's style is still alive today on the ship. The ocean liner is considered a floating hotel and offers 314 guestrooms, nine of which are full-size suites. Each room is unique and offers wood paneling, modern amenities and flat-screen televisions. Those who just want to see the ship without staying overnight can enjoy a tour of the Queen Mary. Tours are offered daily and allow you to explore the ship and discover its art deco design, history and other features. Dining on the Queen Mary is an exciting experience and visitors can choose from fine dining restaurants like Sir Winston's or the Chelsea Chowder House and Bar. Champagne brunch is served every Sunday on the ship.
