Woodward Regional Park

Named for Ralph Woodward, an affluent Fresno resident who left much of his estate to the city for establishing this environment, the Woodward Regional Park is a bastion of relaxation. It is located on the south bank of the San Joaquin River and was originally 235-acres in size. An additional 300-acres was later added to the park that offers numerous amenities for visitors. The park is open April through October from 6 am until 10 pm. Hours change to 6 am until 7 pm from November through March. There is an admission fee of $5 for each vehicle entering the park. The park is a great place for birdwatching. There is also an amphitheatre that seats 2,500 people. Guests can walk around and enjoy a Japanese Garden, two equestrian trails, a fenced-in dog park, three playgrounds, an exercise course, a lake, three ponds, seven picnic areas and five miles of trails. The picnic areas are equipped with electricity, barbecues, and water fountains. There are also a number of picnic tables dotting the landscape. Six larger shelters are available for reservation at a fee of $30 for the day. There is also a gazebo area with six tables that can accommodate 60 people. This is a great option for a small outdoor wedding and can be reserved for $72 for the day.
