Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Sleep Won't Come When You Can't Let Go

Posted 03-30-2016 at 08:38 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The letting go refers to ending my day, basically. As much as I wish for it to be Thursday night (when my weekend begins), I just can't get to bed soon enough. So, where does Case go when he procrastinates?

He..............gets on his computer and types things.

And frequently, it's on a whim.

Look, I'll have things to do around the apartment and even away from it tomorrow and the next day. Right now, there's...

Scattershooting Once More / No-Mow Zones Amongst The Bluebonnets

Posted 03-29-2016 at 06:15 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 03-29-2016 at 06:24 PM by case44

While you sit in your zone wondering if you should have chocolate cake or blueberry pie, I'm sitting here letting my fingers do the walking for another round of Scattershooting, right here on Case's Column. Stick around, because I've got so many things to scattershoot with in this space, you only wonder how I can get it all in.

Mild winter? No problem here. That only leads to a great bumper crop of Texas bluebonnets. Driving along F.M. Road...

It's that time of year again, folks. We've got another Major League Baseball season almost upon us and almost in full swing....

As spring warmups near an end, every MLB team is optimistic in thinking that this year will be their year. We'll just find out, so let's take a look at the teams and how I believe they will finish come October, with some hints on the thereafter.

Save Me A Chocolate Bunny For Easter, Will Ya?

Posted 03-26-2016 at 08:46 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Well, folks, let me wish you a Happy Easter 2016, everybody!

I got to go to church this afternoon. It was a special 3 p.m. service, and the place was 80 percent full. Imagine what five other services that Preston Trail Community Church will be doing before this weekend is out when you consider the numbers I've given you. That's pretty good. The greeter and usher team were all out in full force and did a marvelous job. Hopefully, we've had people visit the...

Cousin Brucie Is A Hump Day Tradition

Posted 03-25-2016 at 08:56 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

He may be 80 years young, but he still chugs along as if he were 30 all over again. You hear him on SiriusXM's '60s on 6 each Wednesday and Saturday. And every time we get to Wednesday, the world-wide Hump Day on the way to the weekend, one's ears can be treated to the talents of one Bruce Morrow. You know him as your Cousin Brucie.

Yes, he's our Cousin Brucie. The Cuz. Can you believe that rascal has been in radio for almost six decades? Hard to believe,...
