Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

1980 Revisited? The Way It's Going, It's Getting There

Posted 07-22-2022 at 07:12 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In Texas, 1980 and 2011 were very hot summers. We all wondered during those times if it would ever get cool.

Well, now, we're in 2022, and so far in Dallas, we've had thirty-four days of 100-degree temperatures for highs. And it's not even August yet. Knowing the place where I live, it won't cool down some until, at least, September. That being said, this year could end up rivaling the aforementioned hot years.

Stay tuned. If you've...

Recapturing My Stride After A Crazy Foot Problem

Posted 07-20-2022 at 06:35 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Sometimes, your writer would have things happen to him while not knowing for certain how it came about. Or, for that matter, why it did.

So, The Case had gone through this past week wondering how that right foot suddenly developed an unusual growth in the back of the heel, accompanied by some apparent tendon pain. I was practically limping while walking, and that discomfort intensified over the weekend. My right foot was acting up, but how? I don't wear...

Here's Some Saturday Music Just For You

It's amazing, the things I find on YouTube to please my musical palate. One of my favorite tunes from the 1960s is a piece Bob Dylan put together which was entitled, "Lay, Lady, Lay". Well, Pete Drake put his prowess together with his talking steel guitar, as he offers his own remake of the Dylan classic (of which he also lent his Nashville experience on Dylan's three Nashville-recorded albums). Back then, he was one of Music City's important backing players.

Avoiding Nap Time Just As To Not Disrupt My Sleep

Posted 07-12-2022 at 06:26 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The older I get, the key for me these days is to eat more sensibly. Not only that, but also to cut down my portions.

At dinner time, whenever a heavier meal is consumed, Ol' Case won't be feeling much like exercising and would, instead, lie down on his bed and try not to drift into a nap. Problem is, on most nights when this happens, you could probably guess what would happen next. That's right, sports fans, the very thing your writer was trying to avoid moments...
