Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Oklahoma City May Be Looking At Outdoing The Devon Tower

Posted 01-29-2024 at 06:46 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

If our friend, the cow, had any desire to jump over the moon anytime soon, then he may have to forget about doing it in Oklahoma City. Why, pray tell, do I ask this?

Boy, wait for this one.

City planners in OKC are actually considering building a new skyscraper that is rumored to be taller than even the One World Trade Center Tower in New York City. Can you believe it? Here's a link for this so you can see what the new structure might look like....

What Should The Astros' Second Biggest Goal Of 2024 Be?

Posted 01-25-2024 at 06:24 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Look, sports fans, you already know what every baseball team wants, and for the Houston Astros, you definitely know that it's another World Series championship. Nothing else matters. That's always the number one goal or they shouldn't be playing.

But what's the club's second biggest goal to be for the coming season?

Well, after Houston had struck a deal for lefthanded reliever (and closer) Josh Hader on a 5-year contract, their real goal before...

A Strange Way For A Bad Dream To End

Posted 01-24-2024 at 05:08 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In the Case abode (another phrase for my apartment ), I usually try to keep things as pristine and serene as possible. But, as you know, life brings forth challenges, victories, and new problems after you've just gotten through with your old one. You never know what may happen.

While I'm trying to get over a slight cold, my sleep patterns have been very poor. I guess that might go with the territory, but it seems that NyQuil might not work like it used to....

H-E-B Breaks Ground In Melissa, Texas ---- With More Coming Real Soon

Posted 01-18-2024 at 08:25 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Continuing its long-awaited expansion in North Texas is H-E-B Grocers. They just broke ground one week ago in Melissa, Texas, which is one community doing quite a bit of growing. Now, they get an H-E-B grocery store within spitting distance of a Buc-ee's.

And with that, that cluster off of U.S. Highway 75 and the State Highway 121 North cutoff just became the most Texan interchange in the state. Fitting, I suppose. Construction on the store began this past...

How To Properly Pronounce Steak Au Poivre --- And How NOT To Pronounce It

Posted 01-16-2024 at 07:32 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As much as your writer loves steak (and usually keeping things relatively simple), I'm curious as to a certain French dish which I've never tried before.

It's Steak Au Poivre.

Now, basically with any international dish, it does get easy to mispronounce things. This food item is but one of them. I just wonder how often you can mess up Steak Au Poivre (and I don't mean in the kitchen).

Let's just see about that.
