Welcome To Case's Column

Since this will be my first venture into the mysterious world of blogging, let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings "Case's Column". I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, I'll set aside a place here for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Here you are. My very first blog page. Come on in and share in the experience. I'm interested in seeing where this is all going. And thanks in advance for dropping by!

Regards,

There's Nothing Wrong With Diversity - It's Just About Priorities

Posted 04-23-2016 at 07:51 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's pretty safe to say that America has gone downhill for about five decades or so, what with eroding values, divorce, broken families, high crime rates, corruption, what have you. You can just look all around you and see that some of the things that made America the greatest nation in the world are constantly and brazenly under attack (religious freedom, individualism, voting rights, etc). They're everywhere, from crooked politicians to Hollywood's influences to the music industry's...

I Had A Dream Of Endless Iced Tea

Posted 04-20-2016 at 07:36 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

My mind already wanders as it is, but it also wonders. I had a crazy thought as I was leaving a QuikTrip station with a bottle of iced tea in my hand.

What if I kept drinking my iced tea on and on, and by the time a quarter of a bottle was left, I would discover that same bottle full again? Wouldn't that be something? I'd start again with a full bottle of unsweet iced tea. A few more chugs, and it would be half full once more. I look away with it half full,...

Postage Stamp Prices Decreasing, And I Couldn't Be Happier

Posted 04-15-2016 at 12:41 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I should say, they never should have gone up in the first place. We spend too much money on too many things as it is, but this news here is beyond pleasant when there's so much bad news out there.

I'm talking about, of course, postage stamps.

Beginning back on April 10, they've gone from 49 cents to 47 cents for one first-class stamp. There is plenty of reason to rejoice. The U.S. Postal Service is actually doing Americans a favor, something...

Buddy Holly Hall Will Offer A New Musical Venue In The Hub City

Posted 04-13-2016 at 07:48 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Lubbock's been waiting for this. Boy, has that town waited. And now, we're going to see progress. You won't see it yet in the flesh, but you can take a look at the designs for what the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences will look like.

And just dig the curvature design to be placed on a communications tower adjacent to the eventual complex, and it's going to light up at night. All in anticipation for the great new venue in the Hub City. It promises...

And There Are Other Body Parts Needing Correcting

Posted 04-08-2016 at 08:52 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

We go from me trying to lose a little weight to fixing two problems. One just got fixed (for now) and the other is in the process of healing.

First off, I got a new prescription of lenses for my glasses. My eyesight with my current pair was as messed up as messed up can be. This time around, I took it upon myself to see someone totally different. In the meantime, I resorted to wearing a backup pair of glasses (my previous pair before the purchase of my latest pair two...
