Welcome To Case's Column

Since this will be my first venture into the mysterious world of blogging, let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings "Case's Column". I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, I'll set aside a place here for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Here you are. My very first blog page. Come on in and share in the experience. I'm interested in seeing where this is all going. And thanks in advance for dropping by!

Regards,

False Signs? AASHTO Says No Go On Interstate 14

Posted 07-17-2016 at 08:03 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I never really thought this would work. This thing about connecting the U.S. forts and military bases with one interstate just wouldn't fly. So, the folks at AASHTO have had their say. U.S. Highway 190 in Killeen, Texas will not see any Interstate 14 signs anytime soon. Actually, ever. Traffic counts would be too low over the road's route, specifically in West Texas.

The idea was doomed from the beginning for what I believe is this reason: There are no...

Trump-Pence 2016 Ticket: A Winning Choice For America

Posted 07-15-2016 at 11:26 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In assessing the hot mess that is going on, not just in these United States, but across the world, people are hungry for real change. And politics as usual just won't cut it anymore.

Just ask the people in the country of France if you don't believe me. Think they're not tired of terrorist attacks on their homeland??

I don't wish to unduly alarm anyone in my own homeland, but, sadly, a lot of those same things could be happening eventually and more...

There's Always Something About Cookies That Just Brings People Together

Posted 07-12-2016 at 05:30 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As I write this, tomorrow is Hump Day, but any day is a good day for cookies. Tomorrow, I get to continue my ten-year-long tradition of taking a variety of cookies to work to share with the folks there.

And in my fridge right now, I have this vat of Nestle Toll House cookie mix. Yes, I get to scoop up some cookie dough when the time is right and strategically place some little mounds on an ungreased, non-stick baking pan. Once I've gotten the amount I want...

Astros Rising Fast In The AL West

Posted 07-08-2016 at 11:40 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Just when I thought the Houston Astros couldn't recapture last year's magic when the season began, here they are now in second place in the American League West race. Things are beginning to look up once again.

At the end of April, the 'Stros were 7-17, but then again, this franchise is notorious for slow starts. Since the beginning of May, they've gone 39-23 and have cruised past Seattle, Los Angeles, and Oakland. And lately, the Texas Rangers have had a solid...

Conservatives Must Take A Stand - Or Lose This Country Forever

Posted 07-08-2016 at 11:20 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 07-08-2016 at 07:10 PM by case44

Can it just get any worse for the United States of America? We have spent seven and a half years in the biggest downward spiral in this nation's history, what with a down economy in many parts of the country and no end in sight, a lawless president with absolutely no regard for fellow Americans, a deeply divided people, too many corrupt politicians, endless debt, terror on the rise, and our cherished values trashed and kicked to the curb.

Thank goodness a civilian...
