Welcome To Case's Column

Since this will be my first venture into the mysterious world of blogging, let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings "Case's Column". I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, I'll set aside a place here for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Here you are. My very first blog page. Come on in and share in the experience. I'm interested in seeing where this is all going. And thanks in advance for dropping by!

Regards,

I-69 Update: The Push For The Corpus Connector

Posted 05-03-2014 at 07:56 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 05-03-2014 at 08:15 AM by case44

It was announced yesterday that a bill is being initiated to get Texas' State Highway 44 to become part of the Interstate 69 network in Texas. Even after the bill passes, Highway 44's conversion to interstate standards would have to be put on the back-burner for the time being, as other projects have to take a little more priority. When it does become complete, it's going to provide a fast, efficient route to move goods (and, perhaps, tourists) from Laredo to Corpus Christi and vice...

Not That I Have To Keep Putting Things Off, But....

Posted 04-26-2014 at 08:42 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

.....I've been meaning to get something for quite some time now. The trouble is, I've put other things before it. As it is, I'm one of the world's worst when it comes to procrastinating. If only I could just put it off....

It's just that I've had every intention of going to Wallyworld (that's Wal-Mart for those of you out of the loop) to get one simple thing I've never possessed before. Here's the dill, pickle: On Sunday mornings, I take a half-dose of synthroid...

No Rain In My Neighborhood, But I Got A Good Lightning Show

Posted 04-21-2014 at 08:44 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

So, once upon a time, there was supposed to be a big thunderstorm event in my part of the big Dallas-Fort Worth area. My neighborhood got nothing. Other people got some much-needed rain. Some forecast. Yes, we need rain, but there are times when the National Weather Service likes to play with my emotions.

Okay, no big events...............well, maybe one. Tonight, anyway. Too bad I couldn't get a picture while I was running errands, but we had a lightning...

KOKE-FM Making Changes Once Again

Posted 04-19-2014 at 07:49 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Just when you thought KOKE-FM was still getting more established, well, now they've decided to make another change. Within the bounds of Genuine Austin Radio, the honchos have determined that it'd be okay to part with one of their three FM frequencies.

They already have 99.3, which reaches a substantial tract of Central Texas landscape, along with 98.5, which reaches those places that 99.3 can't. So, they're parting with the 105.3 FM channel and changing the format...

Letterman To Say Goodbye To CBS, But What Will The Future Hold With Colbert?

Posted 04-12-2014 at 10:55 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Sooner or later, David Letterman was going to make a decision. After all, he had been on national television in one form or another for about three decades. You already know about his gigs at NBC and CBS with "Late Night" and "The Late Show", respectively.

I used to watch his show quite often but don't anymore because of my work schedule being what it is. Lately, I've been hearing about some of Letterman's bits on his recent shows. I'm under the...
