Welcome To Case's Column

Since this will be my first venture into the mysterious world of blogging, let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings "Case's Column". I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, I'll set aside a place here for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Here you are. My very first blog page. Come on in and share in the experience. I'm interested in seeing where this is all going. And thanks in advance for dropping by!

Regards,

I-69 Update: I-169 Officially Enters The System And More

Three new sections have just been cleared in South Texas to go into the Interstate 69 network in Texas. Slowly, but surely, more miles begin to march into an exciting new road system, still years from its full completion.

Thanks to some newfound money voted on by us to pay for new roads, more projects will be on the way for I-69. Several are well underway as I write. For now, I'm just happy that we're seeing any progress at all.

Without belaboring...

Setting A New Record..............For Free Whataburgers

Posted 12-20-2015 at 07:02 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It is quite possible to do better at a restaurant than you can at the Texas Lottery. After all, who really cares about winning ten dollars on the All or Nothing game when all I really want is a clever way to get a double-meat Whataburger with fries at a reduced price?

Now imagine getting a receipt with a survey to get you a free Whataburger.................on four straight visits!

Well, that's been the scenario of late, and it's only happened in...

Miracles DO Happen.....At My Car Dealership's Service Department

Posted 12-17-2015 at 03:17 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You could only imagine the look on my face when something very strange happened a few nights ago. On a few errands, my car's engine suddenly started having a few knocking sounds. Just the thing you don't want when thinking about buying cookies.

The knocking and sputtering continued until I stopped at a gas station, believing, at the time, that, maybe, I'd gotten some bad gasoline. All of which would not have made much sense because I'd just filled up the tank...

Giles To Make Big Difference For Astros In 2016

Talk about a splash. The Houston Astros needed to do one thing at baseball's Winter Meetings in Nashville this past week. That one mission was shoring up the bullpen.

Now, you're probably saying, "Well, wait a minute, Case. They already have Luke Gregerson, Pat Neshek, and Will Harris. Just because they had rough outings in September and October doesn't necessary mean that they...."

I hear you, but it shouldn't be any indictment to...

Another New Texas Interstate? Yep - It's Coming

Posted 12-11-2015 at 04:46 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You knew it was going to happen. You just didn't know when it was going to happen. Like it or not, it's a big deal to many folks in Central Texas, and a new interstate will eventually make its way into our everyday lives, not to mention Rand McNally, Google, MapQuest, and any other source you can think of.

Interstate 14, ladies and gentlemen, is coming to Texas. Pretty soon, after the FHWA and AASHTO each do their thing, the Texas Transportation Commission...
