Yankee Stadium

Today is the last day of baseball for the 2008 Major League season for baseball to be played in Yankee Stadium. Yankee Stadium is the most recognized, most revered stadium in the United States. It is sad that it will be torn down soon. I am sure to be outvoted when it comes to this issue. I think it's sad when another traditional landmark is bulldozed down for progress, for glitz, for having multiple restaurants built in to the new stadiums.

A little over a year ago Bryant Gumbel of HBO had a great 20 minute special on the NFL disability issue on his program Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel. It is good that some past and present NFL players are stepping up to the plate. One was Troy Aikman of Fox Sports and formerly of the Dallas Cowboys. One of his Super Bowl rings was auctioned off on e-bay with the proceeds going to a fund to help disabled players.
