Modern Day Mayberry Part 2

MODERN DAY MAYBERRY Part 2
I continued to explore the west end
of Madison and make more discoveries this past winter. Yes, I am very familiar
with this road as I travel it every day, even more than I do Detroit. I
see the empty storefronts and dream about what little shop I could open up but
I don't have the courage. Not with this internet shopping world. And I
haven't thought of a service I could provide. That would be the safe bet. Maybe
something will...

From Cleveland to the Keys

Posted 04-25-2013 at 05:53 AM by lindarogers

I just returned from my semi-regular trip to Florida. I flew in to the Ft Lauderdale Airport and rented a car to go to the Keys for 8 days. The plane trip lasted 3 hours and the car trip almost that many. I was mentally comparing everything with Cleveland. Right away you would notice that drivers in Florida are more like like the ones in New York rather than Cleveland. Everyone is in a hurry and driving like a maniac. Also, they don't have manned toll booths so they use cameras instead. You are...

Modern Day Mayberry

Modern Day Mayberry Part 1
I am on a quest to visit as many little shops in Lakewood as possible. It will take a while but it will be fun. I’ve stopped in about 25 so far and it’s been very interesting. Of course, I’ve been in a lot of these places before but only to browse or buy something. I’ve never really taken the time to talk with the owners. I’ve been missing out.
For example, did you know that there are 2 resident cats at Goddess Blessed? There is a grey and white one named...

It's called apartment HUNTING for a reason.

Posted 03-15-2013 at 11:08 AM by lindarogers

I’m helping 2 clients looking for apartments in the Cleveland area. I’ve spent the last week working about 2 hours every day scanning Craigslist and the MLS for properties in lots of areas. What an exercise in frustration. Oh, and did I mention that these clients have dogs over twenty five pounds? Landlords are just lining up to rent to them. Right. And another thing, one of the dogs is a pitbull. This is where I have to laugh or just give in and cry. Right away, Lakewood is out for them. Unfortunate...

Lakewood's Beck Center for the Arts

Posted 03-08-2013 at 09:09 AM by lindarogers

Clevelanders may or may not know that Lakewood has a little gem by the name of Beck Center for the Arts. I can walk there from my house and I do when the weather is nice. I’ve seen several plays and art exhibits there. My next door neighbors work in the props department. I’ve taken out of town guests there too. Last Friday Bob and I attended their Marquee Happy Hour. I didn’t know what to expect but I thought it sounded interesting. What’s not to love about free art, food, music and cheap...
