Thanksgiving Night

Posted 11-27-2008 at 09:45 AM by GoddessofRandomThoughts
T'was the night of Thanksgiving
But I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards.
I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned - the dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation,
The thought of a snack became infatuation.

So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,
And gazed in the fridge, full of goodies galore,

I gobbled up turkey and...
Oh give me a home......

(Okay, here is the rest of the Soldiers Tale ........we left our brave Soldier in the Kings prison......)

In his flight he had forgotten the most valuable things he had, the blue light and the gold, and had only one ducat in his pocket. And now loaded with chains, he was standing at the window of his dungeon, when he chanced to see one of his comrades passing by.

A Very Old Veterans Story (part 1)

Posted 11-11-2008 at 02:00 PM by GoddessofRandomThoughts
(This program said the story was too long so I have made it a two parter)

There was once a soldier who for many years had served the king faithfully.
But when the war came to an end, it was decided that he could serve no longer because of the many wounds which he had received.

The king said to him, "You may return to your home, I need you no longer, and you will not receive any more money, for he only receives wages who renders me service for them."...

The Dandelion

Posted 07-13-2008 at 09:33 PM by GoddessofRandomThoughts
(I actually posted this on a thread but thought I would put it here also)

Did you know?....Dandelions are sensitive to the weather. In good weather the head is fully open but if rain threatens it closes up. Also, the dandelion is said to close up against the dew around 5pm and to open up again at 7am. (Wonder if that's why it's called a clock?) Although this behaviour is said to depend on the intensity if the light so the times differ at different lattitudes and seasons.
