We were blessed today, in that our news was good. Still, as we left the doctor's office parking lot, we reminded ourselves that there are millions out there that were not so blithely leaving their situations.

In gratitude for our blessings, I "speak" my blessing for all that face suffering, in the practice of Tonglen, as taught by Pema Chodron:

The two most certain things in life they say are death and taxes. Funny those two words should be used in the same sentence eh? Tell me, both are something we should avoid as long as possible-- what do YOU think?

The water from the shower has been leaking into the walls. They came to look at it and said they need to take the whole wall out. We rent with no renters insurance. Should they pay for a place for us to stay? Should we have to pay rent? What can I do???

Behold our world, grandiose and minute. Within it lies the power to derive the most fantastic explanations of our universe, the ability to defy the laws of physics and the arcane ability to make things of our dreams come true.

Within our world we are locked in a power struggle of lower classes and middle classes and upper classes. In each of our individual worlds we mix with all. The rich man passes the poor man, the middle man talks as the communicator between the two.
