Housing market and the economy

Posted 07-08-2009 at 05:55 PM by MBmarybeth
Anyone who cares at all about this economy MUST realize that taxes must be low and the housing market must start up again.

These two things will drive small business and hire again the people who are currently unemployed.

Does anyone disagree? Does anyone think that increasing taxes and government spending is a good thing? If yes, please tell me how.

Thanks in advance,

This is a redo of a prior chart. I was simply going to update the earlier one but the works got lost. So a new version.

Shown are the median and average prices since 2000. A CPI line is provided to show the impact of inflation.

Case Shiller to the Rescue

Posted 07-08-2009 at 02:25 PM by olecapt
Ever wonder why Case Shiller? Well wonder no more. It is just pretty much the same old stuff you get from your local MLS.

Here is a plot of Case Shiller from 1990 versus the Las Vegas MLS data since 2000. This is the average MLS price and the CS index multiplied by the MLS January 2000 price. This is probably not the best match available but it seems sufficient. Delaying CS 45 days and dropping the base value a little would make an even better match.

Say goodbye to Microsoft Windows...and replace it with Google?

Posted 07-08-2009 at 01:44 PM by carlos123 (My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego)
Yup. That's right folks.

Microsoft Windows is toast!

Google will shortly be rolling out a new operating system anchored by their newly developed internet browser called Chrome (based on the code underlying the open source Mozilla browser called Firefox...a great browser by the way).

In other words Google is throwing it's weight behind a push to seperate the local operating system from the computer and have an internet based operating system take it's...
