Washington living

My husband wants to move to Washington. I wanted to move to Tennessee, or North Carolina. Is there a place in Washington that would be a good middle. Looking for a nice town for families. With good schools, and nice people. Lots of town events. Maybe somewhere in the country, close to a bigger city with all the amenities. Maybe some country dancing.
