Bullet Train - Portland to Seattle to Vancouver?

I'm amazed California, the state that made "drive everywhere" the national model should be considering anything that doesn't serve cars. Behind Europe? Well, I'm thinking Europe has always favored trains. THEY were late to the party of subjugating high ends to the needs of cars.

Decades of bad transportation policy have torpedoed lots of these ideas. The government bought failing passenger rails, but then the enemies of public transportation insured no investment in dedicated rails. So now in most places, commuter rail has to rent rail to go anywhere. As is always the case, the public...
