Worried about sharks in Florida?

Posted 12-06-2009 at 09:54 PM by SoFLGal

Thinking of moving to Sarasota? Here are some helpful tips…

Posted 12-03-2009 at 01:38 PM by SoFLGal

1)The job market is pretty bad here so make sure you have a job lined up prior to moving. You might want to check Craigslist.org or do a Google search for your specific profession.

2)I would suggest downtown Sarasota or possibly Tampa for the more happenin' spots. My husband and I actually went out a few weeks ago for the first time in years (without the kids) and we went to the Beach Club on Siesta Key. On Fri & Sat nights it gets pretty rockin' with live music, etc. We're in...

What does SRQ stand for?

Posted 12-03-2009 at 01:36 PM by SoFLGal

The SRQ designation has evolved from the pre-World War II, two-letter assigned codes of RS to its present global designation of SRQ. During those days, there were not many facilities, but as the aviation industry grew the need for coordinated codes grew. The International Transport Association (IATA) assigned new three-letter codes worldwide. By 1948, use of these...

Little Gasparilla Island Living and Crabbing

When I was a kid we used to go out to the beach at night to catch crabs(that sounds funny ). We'd tie a chicken neck on a string and drag it along the sand. One person would hold the flashlight and one would hold the bucket and long handled net. Once the crab would get close enough we would scoop them up. We caught all kinds, blue, stone and rooster. I probably wouldn't recommend this exact method due to the increased risk of sharks at dusk or night.

You might want to find a seawall...
