Quick one...explain w diff between active, contingent, and pending on real estate listing

Listing status in the MLS seems to be confusing.
Sometimes that is due to the widely varying rules of various MLSs. So people from other areas moving to the Raleigh Cary Durham Chapel Hill area need to be brought up to speed regarding the meaning of MLS status.

Most commonly, people are confused by "Contingent" and "Pending" status.

I'm not a big believer in pestering people that they just cannot buy real estate without an agent.
Too often agents seem completely self-serving with that advice.
I would make an exception in this case, but it seems that the barn door is WIDE open. And the horse has wandered...

Out of curiosity, I posted in the CD Real Estate forum a poll asking for feedback on digital signing.

It is becoming more and more common to try to go paperless in real estate transactions. So, we have multiple means to execute documents, signing and initialing, via digital means.
I use DocuSign with ZipForm, but there are several other vendors providing digital...
