WTI Cushing Spot $124.73 What's in a name? Midessa Part 1

For the last couple of entries I have been discussing the names of cities, mainly about how Midland and Odessa are for the most part boring names.

Today I am going to blog about a city that does not exist, Midessa, Texas.

The name Midessa is formed by combining the names Midland and Odessa into one and in my opinion is far superior to the two source names in just about every way.

Firstly, Midessa is original. A google search returns 15,200 hits for Midessa...

But somehow to me these seem unsatisfying, Paris, Texas just doesn't have the same appeal that Paris does. Many American cities are named this way and I dunno, but it strikes me as incredibly lazy. Its like the new was finally making the big time...

Well it seems that I, as well as all members of City-Data Forum, have a blog now. That is very generous of City-Data so I feel obligated by etiquette to do something with it. The fact that I am an attention ***** and will take any opportunity to cheer lead for my home city has nothing to do with it at all. Really. I am being forced by good manners to do this blog and ego does not factor into it in any way.

First of all, I needed to decide what to blog about. Now I know that the...
