My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego | List of Best Posts
This blog is where I express myself to the world or at least to those who might stop by to read what I post . Maybe God will use what I post (I am a Christian and this blog will have a most decidedly Christian bent to it) to good effect in the lives of my readers.

I may turn some of my posts into a book. I may cease blogging here altogether. Who knows. But for now..I am content to post away in this, my own little corner of the world.

Rather than reading through my now lengthy list of posts you may wish to read what I consider to be my very best posts or you can just read the posts that deal with a single subject category that might interest you.

Please know that I am open to any input on any topic I write about. If you have something to say about anything you see written here please....feel free to speak up in the form of leaving a comment or sending me a PM (private message).

And if you are in San Diego and wish to meet the one and only Carlos (that's me )...drop me a private message. I always enjoy meeting one of my readers!

Thanks.

Carlos

A wonderful walk in the neighborhood!

Posted 09-12-2009 at 04:07 PM by carlos123 (My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego)
I just got home from having a wonderful walk in the neighborhood with my new landlord.

We both need to get out and get a bit more exercise. Especially me in that honestly sometimes I wonder if my leg muscles are going to eventually atrophy from lack of use. I sit around in front of the computer so much.

I felt much better after my walk (my back has not fully recovered yet from 8 months of sitting for long periods of time in a fifth wheel couch).

I had...

Rats, tarantulas, and rattle snakes...oh my!

Posted 09-10-2009 at 12:23 AM by carlos123 (My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego)
The title of this blog is said in the spirit of the famous saying..."Lions and tigers and bears...oh my!" and could aptly describe my surprise to learn that the San Diego area not only has naturally occurring tarantulas and rattlesnakes but also RATS!

Lots of RATS!

Bear in mind that I came from rat free Alberta in Canada where there isn't a single rat!

The site of a rat in Alberta causes the government to go into motion to exterminate it like...

Even the thrift stores here cater to the rich and infamous!

My landlord took me to the thrift store area of town today.

Very nice thrift stores. I mean I can tell I am living among a population that...well...doesn't usually shop at thrift stores. At least not in the sense that I am used to.

People here shop at thrift stores to find trinkets for someone they are making a nice hand made Christmas gift for, to find an antique piece of furniture at a good price, maybe a large screen televesion for less for their children's playroom...well...maybe...

The Lord provides me with a great meal and $20 cash!

Posted 09-06-2009 at 07:02 PM by carlos123 (My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego)
Enough to eat for a whole week...possibly even two! Praise God!

I went to the home church I go to this morning and afterwards a number of us went out to lunch. I did not have money to do that and let my ride know and they said they knew that but that they were going to pay for my lunch.

I certainly wasn't going to force their hand to give me a ride back home just because they wanted to pay for lunch! So I accepted their gracious offer and went.

After...

The place I am at now is rather...well...expensive !

Posted 09-05-2009 at 07:02 PM by carlos123 (My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego)
Today I had a chance to walk down the hill I am living on to the nearest stores and found to my disappointment that there are no dollar store prices around here LOL.

Dollar store loafs of bread, canned goods, and goodies are...well...all but non-existant.

We are talking $3-4 for a loaf of bread folks!

People around here talk about a cheap burger being $7! They don't know what cheap is until they have tried a Jack-in-the-Box Jumbo Jack for $1.39 with...
