Full-frame Cameras are Within the Reach of Mortals!

Posted 10-12-2020 at 10:12 PM by Blondebaerde

After selling off my DSLR kit, a Fujifilm X100T, a Fujifilm X-T2, and various lenses, of course I'm now thinking (year/year and a half later), "Jeez, wish I had a real camera again!" The APS-C sensor in all the above was intoxicating, it's really nice except in super-low light. Though my Nikkor AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G could be almost like night vision at about ISO 3200 with the Nikon D7000, nine years ago.

I think it's time to embrace full frame, it's gotten relatively...

New to me Beretta Cheetah 81: Surplus!

Posted 10-06-2020 at 03:25 PM by Blondebaerde

So earlier this year I snagged one of those interesting surplus pistols that turn up occasionally in batches: a $200 surplus Beretta Cheetah 81. Surplus from the Italian police, I do believe. Caliber is 32ACP.

If 32 ACP is worth much from a self-defense perspective, I'm a bit doubtful. 380 ACP is probably a better idea, the pundits say. But it shoots well, and for $200, it doesn't matter much to me. Most Berettas are beautifully crafted, if perhaps a bit obsolete in the age of...

Fear Factor and Bariatric Surgery

Posted 09-14-2020 at 10:33 PM by Blondebaerde

Hmm. I'm not very good at the soft-sell/therapy, so here's the reality from my perspective: any fear felt about surgery and aftereffects paled against the near-certainty of an early death from morbid obesity. It just happened, over time, due to carelessness and over-indulgence. That's just my personality. I needed, and took, radical steps to solve it

VSG was 8/10/2020 in Tijuana Mexico by a top surgeon, possibly "the" top surgeon in the world for this procedure. At...

I'll assume from the above they have a suspect in the cold-blooded murder of a Trump supporter in Portland.

What I'm hearing so far from the other side is enemy propaganda, straight out of the Communist playbook: counter-intelligence...

Fun Motorcycle Choice....

Posted 07-20-2020 at 09:47 PM by Blondebaerde

Funny predicament: Funny, as in nothing at stake but next bike, sometime in the future, 2021 if the world doesn't collapse. We thought it would in 2009, btw, and I do not know (no one does) if this time is similar. Bought a bike in 2010 and all was well, btw, being an optimist.

I've owned 13 bikes since '87. I sold a 2014 Multistrada early 2020, because I'd not ridden much if at-all for two years: an asset sitting around in my garage. No regrets, I'd tired of the Ducati (great...
