landlord tenant laws

I am a first time landlord and have had to do an eviction on the tenants at my residence.
It seems to me that the tenants have more rights than the owners themselves.
I started the eviction process and since the tenants removed the couple of item they had left at the property I thought I could finally change the locks. I couldn't! The tenants went to the magistrates office to and told them that they weren't finished getting everything when I know for a fact that they did and were just...
