The last tour of Detroit

Posted 02-17-2009 at 02:02 PM by zthatzmanz28
Went through Detroit today--hopefully for the last time in a long time. It isn't just the city proper that is depressing. It is the entire area around the city.
I still love the state. I grew up here. Went hunting, learned to drive, went to school, and my family has been here for 70 plus years. But my faith is shattered. The economy has collapsed and everyone I know is literally one day away from a lay off (polite way of being fired now days),
I have left here B4 in 1995 when I...

The relevance of existence

Posted 02-04-2009 at 09:51 AM by zthatzmanz28
You wake up in the morning and start your day. No thoughts. No consideration. Just start. It’s like any other day. You look over at the clock and realize you have over slept—again. But that’s ok, cause knowing you as you do, the clock is actually 30 minutes fast and now you are right on schedule!
As you pull into the parking lot, it dawns on you. It is then that you realize that the last 45 minutes of your life have been wasted—five times a week for the past 29 years. OUCH. That’s 260 days...

Cycle of life

Posted 02-03-2009 at 12:45 PM by zthatzmanz28
So we have been looking at various places to relocate. Yes it is all about the money. We are tired of going paycheck to paycheck and still needing to visit the cash-n-go 2X a month to get by. Some might ask how did we let that happen? Living Beyond our means? Have one of those sub-prime mortgages?? NO and NO...Driving 3 verwell used cars...conventional FHA mortgage...but paying close to $500 a month in property tax ($350), house insurance($100) PMI ($50)...and wondering how long we can hold...
