July 4, 2009, 10:30pm: Happy Birthday, USA … Happy 4th to everyone… Just returned from the firworks show over KailuaBay. Very nice show! Kinda accidentally ended up finding a great spot to watch & take some pics for the family back home. Ended up on the lava rocks between Huggo’s & the water. Got comfy & enjoyed the show. After the show I even got my first taste of the local shaved ice that I hear so much about. Well, kudos… Pineapple flavor was A1 & the ice itself was great....

June 25, 2009: Today is 4 weeks since I arrived. I have had the double-dip of: 1) going, going, going & 2) the island-time syndrome with oceanic cable to end up not having any internet connection. It should be hooked up tomorrow & if this blog update hits my page on Friday, that will be a pretty good sign that it all went successful. If not, then I’ll bet it will work itself out sooner or later. Anyhow, I am going to touch on a few highlights of my first month living in Hawaii:

May 27, 2009, 3:30pm: Here I sit, all broken-hearted. Big day in my life, I believe even bigger than tomorrow. The past couple of days has had me tying up loose ends – Banking, Forwarding mail, Canceling car insurance, Vacating apartment, etc. I have also forwarded a final few possessions to friends and family. May 19, 2009: Two big items checked off my list. One way ticket to Kona is purchased & I am heading out of Dallas on May 28th at 6:00 am. Estate sale, Done! I am officially homeless & excited ! I have a few boxes of small things left over, that I will be taking to a local charity, then I am going to box up the very few things that my family will ship to me at some point in the future. Wow! I have been back home for a couple of weeks now & have been trying to think of how to describe my 2 weeks on the big island. I guess I will start with just describing the time I spent there, rather than how I felt about everything.
