So it's 8/8/8 today. Well, I have often heard that biblically the number 8 stands for "new beginnings." I'm not sure where this thought originates but so be it. I think we all tend to like new beginnings, new seasons, fresh starts etc. I do. (It's always been just one of those small pleasures of life for me to be able to turn over the page to a new month of the calendar!)

Ok, I googled it. It is suggested that this is because seven days is one complete week. God...

aahh...Fridays

Posted 07-11-2008 at 05:34 PM by kaykay
Friday's my favorite day of the week. If you work, I don't have to explain to you why. There's just something about a good Friday night... It has the greatest distance to Monday morning! Friday you can kick back. For me, I'm too old and conservative to "party hardy!" But I'm a nightowl! I love the fact that I can stay up as late as I want on Friday night!( Of course, I can ANY night & sometimes do, but I will pay the next day!) I can stay up late reading, "foruming"...

I guess a blog gives you a personal soapbox so to speak about whatever topic strikes your fancy! THAT'S SCARY! LOL!

I was just thinking today about cellphones and driving ... or more precisely, using our cellphones while we drive. We found out Saturday that a friend of ours was just involved in a car accident. She and their younger son were bunged up a little, the car almost totaled but thankfully, no one seriously injured. The culprit-- a cell phone. The person who hit...

Seven years ago today on 7-7-01, I opened the door to find two policemen standing on my doorstep. One identified himself as the local police chaplain, and after verifying who I was, went on to regretfully inform me that our 16 year old son, Aaron (our only child) and 2 of his friends, both age 17, had been killed in a freak car accident.

Since that time...my husband and I have spent many years trying to recover from what the policeman told me on that morning. Have we recovered?...

Pre-Fourth of July Reflections...Has TV ruined our social lives?

As we prepare to celebrate our national holiday...often gathering with friends and family, I was just considering something my mother said the other night. Has television ruined our social lives? Though my mom watches TV with the best of them, she contends that it has.

She's 83 and was well into her married years before TV was ever invented. She tells the story of window shopping with my father and seeing some contraption through a store window. They both looked...
