After I lost my job there was this one place that was going to hire me off the bat. They took a while getting though all the red tape and I found a job elsewhere. The pay was way less then my last job, but I figured if I am careful it would be doable. Week one they gave me like 40 hours. Since I don't have insurance and my hourly is less my bring home was only about $50 less. Yes half my money at my old job was going to taxes and insurance. Anyways the second week on the job I got a whopping...

I am the first to admit I don't always handle things the right way. I tend to be rude and bitchy when pushed. They annoying bossy know it all girl at work was at it again. I was mad, so i cooled down for a bit before speaking to her. My usual manner is to hurl insults and curse words at people, but I have to grow up.

I start my new job today

Posted 08-08-2008 at 11:07 AM by MaryS80
Monday rolled around and I was pretty nervous about not having a job. I called the best lead I had, the place I was waiting th hear from and never got ahold of HR. I got a good lead from a Barista at Starbucks and hurried over to where she said. I was pretty much hired on the spot and simply had to take a drug test. I knew passing the drug test was not going to be an issue so it was a matter of waiting for the results.

Tuesday the original place I had been waiting on calls me...

Being Unemployed, Week 1

Posted 07-31-2008 at 01:45 PM by MaryS80
So I lost my job a week ago, during what is easily the worst economy of my lifetime. There was a report on the news today that unemployment is at an all time high. That means more competition for jobs. Just a few days ago a large company shut down all their restaurants without notice. I'm not in that field, but again more competition for jobs.

Maybe I am too optimistic, but I expected to have a job by now. I hit the ground running and put in applications and submitted my resume...
