What is it with my kids? They say and do some of the darndest things. My youngest daughter especially. I'm telling you, the girl lives in her own world. And it's a very special and happy world.

The syrup in the bellybutton is the most recent event. It started with breakfast and waffles. She was wearing her bathing suit. She's one of those kids who can't eat anything without wearing it. She gets it from her father. I'm afraid that he is the same way. When she discovered that there was syrup in her bellybutton, you would think that she would instinctively go wash it out. But, oh no! Not this child. It is much funner to show everyone how you can make your bellybutton stick together and almost disappear. Of course, this meant that all the other children had to try do the same thing and when they couldn't, that was when she proudly proclaimed, "I have syrup in my bellybutton and I like it." Yep, she's a special one. Then there's another recent event when the oldest girl was having a sleep-over and the kids were playing charades. Someone had made a guess at what the answer was, the person who was "it" said, "no, but you all just keep hollering out." Well, that was when the cute, young one decided to "holler out". No, not any words, just a nice, cute "aaahhhhh!". It was really quite funny, but I had to explain to her that was not what they meant.

I have a mommy gripe. I'm sure it's not just me. I'm sure that it's every mom. But why? My kids ALWAYS need ME! Dad can be home, standing right in the kitchen and the kids will seek me out and ask me to get them a glass of water. They are helpless and they must also think that their dad is. Here's one of my favorites...."Mom! I'm all done and my butt needs wiped!" When will this stop? OK, I know the answer...when they learn to do it for themselves. And according to the track record, I've got about two more years with the youngest. But why is it that I never hear, "dad, I'm all done and...."?

Why is it that they always push my buttons? Why can't they just go to bed when told? Why, why, why?

It has been a nice, child-free weekend. Maybe that is why they are pushing my buttons. It is amazing how much freedom I have when my kids are away. However, I did find myself getting bored this afternoon and the forum is really quite dead (at least by my standards). School is in one week. It has been a great summer, but I am ready for school to begin. I am pretty sure that...

More words of wisdom

Well, she definately has her world in order. That beautiful, blue-eyed girl with curls and syrup in her belly-button came out while I was weed-eating and said, "mommy, girls don't mow lawns or weed-eat unless they want to plant flowers."

Now, mind you, my children have never seen me work in the yard. I have not had the energy for quite some time. The last time I remember pushing a mower I was sixth months pregnant with #2. Since then, it's in the house and out of the...

Now I know that I am blessed. I have 5 beautiful, healthy kids and I am blessed beyond measure. (Aaaahhhh! the youngest is here as I am trying to type telling me he has my nose!!!) But sometimes it just seems so overwhelming. It's non-stop. (Ahhhh, mom, I pooped! BRB)....OK, I'm back. Only to leave again soon. The funny thing about my youngest...sometimes he hollers before he's really done. You stop what you're doing, go to his rescue, and... you get the jest of it...

Yep,...

Good times during hard times...

Posted 07-21-2008 at 01:51 PM by weatherologist (I have syrup in my bellybutton & I like it...)
I have not spent too much time on the web lately. Due to financial woes and a dispute in our bill, we had our provider "take a hike". But I must say, in this stuggling economy, I have seen my family grow closer. Currently we have no cable TV or 'high-speed' internet. That means, no all day cartoons or x-box live. Now, in a family with 5 children home on summer vacation, this could be the end of me. But I have watched as my children played Chutes and Ladders and as they have become...
